This is one of my final projects for my bachelor education Devine (Digital Design And Media).
For the first time I worked for a real company with a realistic goal and feedback by the client instead of our docents.
First of all I want to mention that this project is built together with some other talented guys, Thomas Heylen (fellow designer / illustrator) and Fabian Meul (developer / designer).
Our main goal is to create a web-application were people can find plants / trees suitable for their garden.
The site is supposed to be accessible to both newbies and die hard garden lovers so our focus was on the accessibility and usability.
To add some extra glamour we also created a mobile (iPhone) application with every main feature ported to the mobile platform and also a few new features.
One of the main new features is "image tagging" (comparable to Google Goggles) so you can make a picture of a plant and the application returns a search result based on your image.
If the API is able to detect the name of the plant the application will show you the detail page otherwise search results will be filtered by tags returned by the API (for example colors).
One of our main idea's was to give the site a personal touch by creating a digital gardener (called Marc).
Everything you do on the site is followed and directed by Marc, Marc also gives suggestions and guides you trough the different steps of finding your preferred plant.
We put a lot of time and effort in the creation and animation of the character.

A sad announcement is that we're unable to publish our app into the Appstore. Creating this app however was a very learnful experience and I bought an official iPhone Developer certificate. I'm trying to focus myself a bit more on mobile development, especially the iPad is something I want to work (design / develop) for.
